Black Forest Brownie Bars

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup dried cherries, finely chopped
  • 2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon whipping cream

Recipe

  • 1 bars:.
  • 2 preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 3 melt chocolate and butter in a small saucepan or in the microwave, stirring until smooth.
  • 4 cool.
  • 5 combine flour and salt in a bowl.
  • 6 set aside.
  • 7 in mixing bowl, beat eggs until fluffy, about 1 minute.
  • 8 gradually beat in brown sugar.
  • 9 add cooled chocolate mixture and vanilla.

  • 11 stir in walnuts and chocolate chips.
  • 12 spread batter in a buttered 13"x 9" baking pan.
  • 13 bake for 20-22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • 14 cool in pan on wire rack.
  • 15 cherry cream cheese filling:.
  • 16 cream butter and cream cheese in a bowl until light and fluffy.
  • 17 gradually beat in vanilla and powdered sugar.
  • 18 stir in cherries.
  • 19 spread mixture evenly over brownie layer.
  • 20 refrigerate until set.
  • 21 chocolate drizzle:.
  • 22 melt the chocolate chips and cream over low heat or in the microwave.
  • 23 cool slightly.
  • 24 dip a fork into the mixture and drizzle over the cherry layer.
  • 25 chill until firm then cut in 2"x2" squares.
